Las pruebas VDRL falsas reactivas en el manejo de la sífilis Reacciones Falsas positivas en el embarazo
Abstract
A study of the false reactive VDRL tests for Syphilis in pregnancy is presented. The study was carried out on a population of 13.477 women from an obstetric clinic. From this universe, an aleatory sample of 4.344 was taken. The following results were obtained: 64 sera were VDRL reactive, FTA-ABS non-reactive meaning 1.50% of false reactivity; 25 sera were VDRL reactive. FTA-ABS reactive meaning 0.60% of Syphilis. A close relation was noticed hetween false reactivity and first pregnancy. Quantitative VDRL of false reactive were always on the side of very low titers: O to 2 dils. A high statistically significant relation between false reactives and A, Rh(-) blood group was found. No relation between false reactives and age of patients was found. No relation ocurred between false reactives and general or obstetric pathological antecedents. No specific association was seen between false reactive tests and any particular period of pregnancy. They apparently appear soon after the process has started. The follow up of false reactives after delivery showed that reached its non reactive level six months later.
