Paragonimiasis Humana Primera Descripción de un caso colombiano
Abstract
The first histopathologically demonstrated colombian case of human Paragonimiasis, affecting mainly the basal rigth pulmonary lobe, is presented here. The rigth hemidiafragm and the upper surface of the rigth liver lobe had inflammatory cicatricial changes by vicinity to the pulmonar lesion. Most probably the patient acquired the disease in the area of Mesetas, Meta, and for about four years had simptomatology of hemoptoic cough with eventual hemoptysis. He died during the immediate post-operative period, following the resection of the peluro-pulmonary lesions. The clinical diagnosis and management of this patient, in spite of several negative bacilloscopy tests for acid-fast bacilli was that of Pulmonary Tuberculosis. Authors recommend that, in our country, Paragonimiasis should be kept in mind among the differential diagnosis of pneumopathies with hemoptoic cough.
