Uretritis masculina gonocócica y no gonocócica Papel del laboratorio clínico en su diagnóstico microbiológico
Abstract
Experience of eight years with the laboratory diagnosis of male urethritis is reported; in 1557 patients with clinical suspicion and laboratory confirmation of urethritis. there was a marked predominance of the nongonococcal form (81%). Direct Gram-steined smear was of the utmost diagnostic value: most of the patients with gonococcal urethritis were found to have profuse urethral discharge. while scent or no discharge was the rule in the ningonococcal cases: aqueous, mucoid and mixed discharges were peculiar to the latter; Trichomonas vaginolis was of minimal importance. The lack of information concerning the relative importance of gonococcal and nongonococcal urethritis. as well as postgonococcal urethritis in Colombia is emphasized.
