Dermatomicosis de etiología mixta y por hongos ambientales (1981 - 1983)

Martha Lucía Escobar, Lucía Santamaría, Federico Díaz G., .

Abstract

Between January 1981 and December 1983 we found 14 cases of dermatomycosis due to saprophytic fungi and 58 lesions of mixed etiology; they represented 1,1% and 4,4% respectively, of 1.317 cases of dermatomycosis proved by culture during that period; the frequency of these lesions, their localization, the agents involved and their combinations were very similar to those previously reported from the same city; we consider it important for the laboratory technologist and the physician to be aware of the occurrence of these etiologies so that appropriate techniques and therapy be employed for their diagnosis and management.
