Abstract

During the second half of 1982 a search for arthropods belonging to the Family Culicidae, Triatominae and Phlebotominae was performed in some urban and rural areas of the departament of La Guajira, Colombia, South America, covering the influence area of the charcoal mine of El Cerrejon. This paper includes all the species found except the mosquitoes belonging to the Haemagogus genus which was informed in a previous report. Several proven vector species of some arboviruses, malaria, tripanosomiasis and leishmaniasis were found.
