Hallazgo de una región asináptica en el cromosoma X de Anopheles albimanus Wiedemann (Diptera: culicidae) en el municipio de Buenaventura (Valle)
Abstract
Salivary gland polytene chromosomes of An. albimanus obtained from 4 different populations neighbouring Buenaventura, Valle, Colombia were compa- red in orden to determine differences between these populations and those previously described in Central America. Our interest was to define if there existed some differences in the banding pattern within the investigated populations and the Central American populations. The results showed no significant differences. However, in 15 per cent of the specimens from one locality (Punta Bonita) and in 3 per cent of the total sample, it was found an asinaptic region close to the centromere of the chromosome X. The ethiology of this finding remains unknown and further studies are necessary to clarify its significance.Downloads
