Abstract

In order to establish the diagnostic value of the antibodies against Chlamydia trachomatis in ceMcitis we studied 219 patients (52 culture positives and 167 controls) using the indirect immunofluorescent technique. We found antibodies in 20 of the 52patients (38.5%) and in 66 (39.5%) of the control group. The sensitivity, especficity and predictive values of the test compared to the culture were 38%, 60%, 23% and 76%. The use of the serology as diagnostic tool is discussed.
