Crioconservación de toxoplasma gondii

Abstract

The cryopreservation in liquid nitrogen of Toxoplasma gondii was carried out in order to preserve the parasite for long-term. T. gondii was thawed when antigen was required at 10, 40 and 270 days after its freezing. The pathogenicity and viability of T. gondii was confirmed by inoculation into mice. The cryopreservation in liquid nitrogen of T. gondii minimized for both animal house and laboratory activities, the costs of maintenance of the parasite into mice and the number of people involved in these activities.
